<span;>Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Floods — A Humanitarian Emergency
<span;>HRPF Calls for Urgent Support for Victims
<span;>Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis caused by devastating floods triggered by monsoon rains and glacial melt. The Human Rights Protection Foundation (HRPF) is deeply concerned at the catastrophic loss of human lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure. We urgently call upon donors, philanthropists, and humanitarian partners to extend their support for food, medicine, and shelter to the victims.

<span;>Schools: At least 1,200 schools damaged, disrupting the education of over 60,000 students.
<span;>Health centers: Around 85 Basic Health Units (BHUs) and 15 rural dispensaries have been rendered non-functional.
<span;>Roads & bridges: More than 480 km of roads and 36 bridges washed away, leaving many areas inaccessible.

<span;>Crops destroyed: Around 200,000 acres of standing crops, including maize, rice, and sugarcane, wiped out.
<span;>Livestock deaths: An estimated 42,000 animals lost, a devastating blow to farmers’ livelihoods.
<span;>Food shortage: Rising food insecurity is expected to impact over 1 million people across KPK.
<span;>Humanitarian Needs on Ground
<span;>Field assessments conducted by HRPF highlight four urgent priorities:
<span;>1. Food and Water Security:
<span;>Provision of immediate dry rations (flour, rice, pulses, oil) for at least 20,000 families.
<span;>Clean drinking water supply and water
<span;>purification tablets to prevent waterborne diseases.
<span;>Baby food and milk powder for infants.
<span;>2. Health and Medical Care:
<span;>Outbreaks of cholera, diarrhea, malaria, and dengue reported in several camps.
<span;>At least 50 mobile medical camps required immediately.
<span;>Essential medicines, first-aid kits, antibiotics, IV fluids, and vaccines urgently needed.
<span;>3. Shelter and Non-Food Items:
<span;>25,000 tents required to accommodate displaced families.
<span;>50,000 blankets, 30,000 mattresses, and mosquito nets urgently needed.
<span;>Temporary toilets and hygiene kits critical to reduce disease outbreaks.
<span;>4. Psychosocial and Educational Support:
<span;>Children traumatized by loss of families need psychological counseling.
<span;>Temporary learning centers to ensure children do not lose an academic year.
<span;>Projected Impact
<span;>If immediate intervention is not made:
<span;>Food insecurity may rise by 60% in affected districts.
<span;>Poverty levels in KPK are projected to increase by 45% within the next 12 months.
<span;>Disease outbreaks could claim more lives than the floods themselves.
<span;>Over half a million people may remain dependent on aid for more than a year.
<span;>HRPF’s Emergency Response:
<span;>The Human Rights Protection Foundation has already mobilized its volunteers and community networks in Mardan, Charsadda, Swat, D.I. Khan, and Nowshera.
<span;>Distribution of first batch of ration bags to 200 families completed.
<span;>Coordination with local doctors for free medical camps initiated.
<span;>Establishment of relief collection points for transparent aid distribution.
<span;>HRPF has formally appealed to national and international humanitarian organizations for urgent support.
